Oakbeck Veterinary, Acorn Veterinary Clinic, Ashdale Veterinary Clinic
The team at VetHospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care for the pets you care for.
The practice was founded in August 1988 by Bob Partridge who had fallen in love with Harrogate and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. Ashdale Veterinary Clinic was set up in a converted Butcher's shop on Otley Road in Harrogate. At this time Bob was a single-handed practitioner, which meant that he was on-call 24 hours a day 365 days per year, living in the small flat above the practice. Purchase of one of the very first mobile phones meant that he did get to see something of his wife and dogs in those first few years. In December 1992 the light industrial premises at OakBeck were converted into North Yorkshire's first Veterinary Hospital, which formally opened on the 28th January 1993.
This milestone in the care provided for pets in the Harrogate area is a mark of our determination to provide the best possible care. A Veterinary Hospital is the highest standard of Veterinary Practice in the UK, and we have voluntarily submitted to the external inspection of our standards and quality of care since 1992. Since this time we have provided 24hour, 365 days per year nursing care for any patients ensuring that their medical and surgical needs are met; but as importantly that there is someone there to comfort them and to keep an eye on them. We try to ensure that any patient feels as loved when hospitalised with us as they do at home.
We are very proud of the fact that we were the first veterinary practice in the whole of North Yorkshire to make the commitment to providing this high standard of care and service to pets. It is a testament to the team at VetHospital that we continue to strive to improve the quality of care and service we provide to both patients and clients.
